Alphonso Davies had a brutal season and made it to the final short list of the Golden Boy award. Italian newspaper Tuttosport selected him as one of the 20 finalists to gain it. During 2019/2020 season the Canadian defender played 46 games in which he completed a total of 3.676' minutes, scoring three goals and giving 10 assists.

He was a key player in the Champions League title gained by Bayern Munich, playing eight games out of 12 for his team. In the final matches of the international competition he played a protagonist role in defense as well as in attack. After Bayern wining every single title played during the season, we must think that Davies will be one of the greatest candidates to earn the Golden Boy award.

In the shortlist, competing with Davies, we found: Ferrán Torres (Manchester City), Ansu Fati (Barcelona), Vinicius Jr (Real Madrid), Rodrygo Goes (Real Madrid), Sergiño Dest (Barcelona), Michael Bakker (PSG), Eduardo Camavinga (Rennes), Jonathan David (Lille), Alphonso Davies (Bayern), Fabio Silva (Wolverhampton), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Ryan Gravenberch (Ajax), Mason Greenwood (Manchester United), Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund), Calum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea), Dejan Kulusevski (Juventus), Bakayu Saka (Arsenal), Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund), Dominik Szoboszlai (Red Bull Salzburgo) and Sandro Tonali (Milan).

Those players will be fighting to gain the award that was given to Joao Felix last season. Despite giving the final shortlist Tuttosport couldn't confirm yet when the award ceremony will be taking place, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, even thought it is set to be done on December.
