Munir EL-Haddadi had asked FIFA to play the qualifying rounds for Qatar 2022 with the Moroccan national team, but FIFA denied him that request. FIFA maintains that although the player played for Spain there was an error in a U21 tournament where El-Haddadi was already over the allowed age, for which he is suspended by FIFA.

FIFA's decision seemed to be due to the few minutes that El-Haddadi played with the Spanish national team in qualifying for Euro 2016. El-Haddadi only played for Spain for less than half time and at the same time he decided he wanted to play for Morocco , since his family is born in that country. FIFA announced that this reason had nothing to do with the decision.

The Moroccan federation will file an appeal against the decision of FIFA since they consider that this error has nothing to do with them. Morocco wants to have the player from Seville to try to qualify for the Qatar World Cup 2022. This dream is not only of Morocco but also of El-Haddadi.

The player expressed himself about it and said that he would not give up since his dream is to be able to represent the country where his parents were born. FIFA is generally inflexible on these types of requests, but lawyers can reverse the decision. We only have to wait to see if FIFA allows Morocco and El-Haddadi to fulfill their dreams.
