New York City Football Club will confirm soon the arrival of their new player: Santiago Rodríguez. The youth Uruguayan international aged 20 was formed in Nacional and the club had made an agreement with City Football Group for $5 million plus variables. The offensive midfielder will be making the medical check to join his new team soon.

Santiago Rodríguez played 47 games for Nacional former team, scoring 10 goals and giving 15 assists. Since his debut with the first team, on February 2019, he played 10 Copa Libertadores matches. In his international career, he played at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup and moved on afterwards to the U-23 team.

After the negotiation, City Football Group think that the best idea is for him to play for NYCFC, even though there is a chance to send him to Girona, club from the same group at Spain. There is also a clear chance to let him play his last year at Nacional, before he leaves Uruguay.

During the lasts transfer windows, NYCFC, as many teams of the MLS, look forward to sign players from South America. If Rodríguez finally moves he will be joining his compatriot Nicolas Acevedo, who arrived from Liverpool FC, and Valentín Castellanos, Argentinian that played for CA Torque.
