The former West Ham striker could not cut it with the Hammers in the Premier League after coming in as a club record signing. There was divided opinion from the fans during his miserable run with the club and many could not wait to see his back. 

Yet, many believe he could still cut it and his present form at Ajax has just vindicated them, as if the performance in the Eredivisie is not enough to prove his worth, the current insane form in the Champions League is such an argument breaker. 

The Ivory Coast international now hold an amazing record in the Champions League which he shares with Elite. He is the fifth player in Champions League history to score in each of his first four appearances in the competition, after Zé Carlos (1993), Alessandro Del Piero (1995), Diego Costa (2014) and Haaland (2019).

Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski are not even part of the elite club the West Ham flopp belongs to. He helped his team to qualify to the next round of the champions league with 2 more games to spare, scoring seven goals and two assists. The 27-year-old didn't take credit for his electric form, he gave the credit to the team style of play which creates more chances for him to score.
