Who is Konrad de la Fuente, the first American to play in Barcelona

Konrad de la Fuente is the first US-born footballer to play in Barcelona. His debut was on September 12th, when the team coached by Ronald Koeman beat Club Gimnàstic de Tarragona 3-1 in a friendly match. Four days later, he played against Girona in a pre-season match.

He was born in Miami on July 16, 2001. When he was ten years old, he traveled to Barcelona because his father had gotten a job at the Haitian consulate there. In 2014 when he started playing at Barcelona's La Masia and didn't stop until his debut in Barça B in December 2018.

De la Fuente played for the Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20 United States National Teams and reached the quarter-finals in the World Cup in Poland 2019. He said he is sure that one day he will play a World Cup with the United States shirt. For that, he have to show all his talent in Barcelona to earn a spot at the squad for the World Cup in Qatar 2022

In June 2019, Barcelona signed a four-year contract with Konrad, who has a $100 million release clause. As he defined himself, he is a fast player, who scores many goals and has good dribbling. He really likes how Neymar plays, although his dream is to share the court with Lionel Messi.
