Mesut Özil's time at Arsenal seems to be about to end. The talented offensive midfielder played his last game for the Gunners on March of this year and was left out by Mikel Arteta since then. Now, the head coach decided not to include him neither in the Premier League nor the Europa League squad list.
Özil, aged 32 and with a contract remaining until June 2021, won't be playing, at least, until Februrary after Arteta's decision. The relationship between the coach and the player seems to be broken and, even though his great talent, the left-footed player won't be on the field soon.
Per Mertesacker, Arsenal academy boss, questioned Arteta's decision saying that this action has more to do with the personal problems that the Spanish has with the played than with his actual level on the field. English press reports that his era at the London club is over and that he may be moving to the MLS on the next transfer window.
Özil plays since September 2013 for Arsenal, when the club bought him from Real Madrid for more than $50 million. Since then, he has grown a lot and is now the highest paid player from the whole team. Arsenal, that lost against Manchester City last Saturday, will make their Europa League debut next Thursday when facing Rapid Viena away.
