Since 2005, the rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo has ruled the world of football. Season after seaaon, both players have pushed each other, breaking records after records. The peak of their rivalry came during a 9-year between 2009 and 2018 when both players played in the La Liga.

Ronaldo departed for Juventus in 2018, while Messi just completed his move to PSG. For the first time in 20 years, neither of the players will be in the La Liga but the rivalry would still continue. We now look at 5 Ronaldo records that Messi can break by virtue of moving to PSG.

1. Scoring in 2 European Leagues: Thus is the most obvious and perhaps easiest of the records. Ronaldo has scored in not just 2 but 4 European Leagues. In the Portuguese Primera Liga, the English Premier League, the Spanish La Liga and the Italian Serie A. Meanwhile, Messi has scored in only the Spanish La Liga. We expect that to change as soon as possible with Messi's first goal in the Ligue 1. Fans will be eager to know how soon the Argentine will break his goalscoring duck in France.

2. Winning all the trophies in 2 European Clubs/Leagues: Cristiano Ronaldo has had a clean sweep of titles in 2 different leagues; the English Premier League and the Spanish La Liga. The full retinue of trophies include the League, all domestic cups, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup. Messi has achieved this feat only at Barcelona. With his move to PSG and the capital club's domination of the domestic competitions, Messi only has to focus on winning in Europe to match this Ronaldo record.

3. Score 40 goals in 2 European Leagues: Lionel Messi is no doubt a talented goal scorer, this is evident in him leaving Barcelona as the highest goalscorer of all-time for the Catalan club. However, Ronaldo holds the record for scoring over 40 goals in two leagues (England & Spain). Messi has scored 40+ goals in just Spain. To break this record, the Argentine would have to move fast because Ronaldo would have the chance of making it 3 leagues if he scores up to 40 in Juventus this season. The Portuguese was 3 goals and 4 goals short of 40 in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons respectively.
