Tottenham Hotspur has made their first major signing of the summer, bringing in Goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta on an initial season-long loan deal with an option to but for £13m next summer. Gollini becomes new manager, Nuno Espirito Santo’s first signing of his tenure.

The 26-year-old shot-stopper started his career at Manchester United, coming through the youth ranks before moving to Hellas Verona in 2014. At Verona, he broke into the first team and became the first-choice goalkeeper in the 2015-16 season.

He had a short 6-month stint at Aston Villa in the 2016-17 season before moving back to the Italian Serie A on an 18-month-long loan. He became the first-choice goalkeeper at Atalanta under Gian Piero Gasperini and helped the side to Champions League qualification in the 2020-21 season.

Gollini joins a well-studded Tottenham goalkeeping department already spotting Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart. He will fight for his place and hope to be the long-term replacement to either or both of the veteran goalkeepers.
