Lionel Messi has been said to have many successors during his professional career. But there is one that appeared a couple of months ago and that is supposed to be the indicated one to replace him. He is just 16 years old, was born in Mexico, plays at Mallorca and his name is Luka Romero.

The wonder kid decided to play for Argentina national team, despite he was born at Mexico, as it was the first one that showed interest on him. It was lately reported that FC Barcelona intended to sign him in the future, as he could be the one replacing Messi in case he leaves or after retirement.

The problem is that Barça may have to replace Messi now, if the legend finally decides to leave. There is a clear option for the historical no. 10 to depart as a free agent on June 2021 after almost 20 years at the Catalan side, being Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City the clubs with more chances to sign him.

If Barcelona will then look for Luka Romero as his replacement, the kid won’t be leaving. Head coach Luis García Plaza from Mallorca assured him that there is no better place for his age that the one he is currently at for him to grow. Maybe in a couple of years, when he in near to end his development as a player, he accepts to play in a more famous European side.
