Lionel Messi is living very tough hours in Barcelona after the astonishing revelation from Spanish media on Sunday morning. One of the country’s most famous newspapers, El Mundo, leaked his whole contract on its cover.

Of course, the biggest letter showed his full earnings from that deal throughout the four years of contract: ‘555,237,619’. That’s the amount of euros he was paid from the beginning, after signing the link on November 25, 2017. As per current exchange rates, that would equal to $671,837,519.

But of course a big part of that is represented by special bonuses, that’s not only from his fixed salary. There are many additional incomes that go from $800,000 to over $4 million for additional achieved objectives plus some awards he may receive. They all rise up to $12 million.

Just to start, Messi receives $3.38 million to win the Spanish La Liga. Then, he earns $847,000 if he wins the FIFA Best Player award. Same figure if he lifts the Copa del Rey. This year he missed $2.12 million for failing to reach the Champions League semifinals, after the calamitous 2-8 defeat against Bayern Munich. But every time he won the continental trophy, he received $4.84 million.
