The unusual request of FC Barcelona to Lionel Messi to stay
The Argentinian star is yet defining his future and has received an unusual request from Barça.
The future of Lionel Messi is completely uncertain for now. The Argentinian legend wanted to leave FC Barcelona after more than 20 years a couple of months ago, when ex-president Josep María Bartomeu denied him that possibility and obliged him to stay despite that was not his wish.
After the departure of Bartomeu, the attacker still wants to leave and is very probably that he will be doing so. The contract of Barça with the star ends on June 2021, what gives the player the possibility to negotiate since January to leave as a free agent during the next summer.
Even though conditions haven’t yet been cleared, the possibility of Messi leaving are concrete, as Barcelona is facing a tremendous financial crisis that they can’t solve. The club wants to reduce the salary mass that they can’t afford and one of the clearest possibilities now is to ask Messi to reduce his incomes.
With a $500,000 salary per week, the club considers now that it is unsustainable to have him in that conditions and that prefer him to leave. If Messi doesn’t accept the unusual petition of reducing what he gains, the departure will be real. As always, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are the two clubs with more chances to sign the idol.
