During the last summer, Lionel Messi tried to leave FC Barcelona for the very first time in his professional career. After more than 20 years at the club, the historical no. 10 considered that his time was over and tried to leave. But ex-president Josep María Bartomeu denied him that chance and closed him the exit gate.
Without Bartomeu and with his contract ending on June 2021, the chances of Messi to be moving seem to be high. Nevertheless, the player himself made a statement that no one was waiting for and that gives hope to Barça fans. Everything occurred in the advances of and interview with El Mon a RAC1 that will be available since next Sunday.
Messi said that he is now good, that he had a very bad time last summer, but that now he is fine and excited. Such statement was well-received by the fans from the Catalan side, that now think that his greatest idol may be staying a bit longer after all, when everything indicated the opposite some weeks ago.
Messi tried to leave Barcelona as he felt that he had no competitive project in the club and intended to play his last years of his career playing for big things. At his 33, his name appeared in the radar of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, almost the two unique sides that can afford to pay the contract of the best paid player of the world.
