New York City FC had signed Mitrita as the designated player and everyone was very happy with his level in MLS. The entire MLS was surprised by the decision to transfer the player to the Arab club Al-Ahli since he had arrived at NYCFC for a millionaire figure close to 8.8 million dollars. Now he will be transferred and it is difficult for NYCFC to recoup its investment.

NYCFC's permission for Mitrita to go to Europe to play for Romania hid something behind, but no one imagined that Mitrita would leave NYCFC to go to Arabia. The level that Mitrita had been showing in MLS was very good, which earned him the call to represent the Romanian national team.

After investing more than 8 million dollars, Mitrita will go on loan to Al-Ahli, which, although he will have a purchase option, is estimated to be close to 5 million dollars. It's a lousy financial deal for New York City FC. Besides the economic business, it is a terrible business in terms of the level that he had shown in the MLS.

The NYCFC coach said his team performs better when Mitrita is off the court but statistics show otherwise. In the games that Mitrita did not play or substitute start, New York City FC only obtained 12 points out of 27. The work of coach Ronny Delia at the head of NYCFC is very questionable.
