Olivier Giroud could move from Chelsea soon, after almost two years in the English side. The contract of the French attacker with the club ends on June 2021 and there are some MLS clubs interested on him. Bringing a figure of that quality as a free agent would cost a huge contract, for any club that wants him.

Even though they are still rumoring, the club who has the bigger chances to sign him is New York City FC. Brazilian striker Héber has been injured during the last games of the season and couldn’t play, as Argentinian Valentín Castellanos occupied his place while the club searches for another no. 9.

If Giroud moves as a free agent, after the end of his contract, then his salary will be higher than if a transfer is needed. In the first case, he could be paid even more than Carlos Vela or Chicharito. The Mexican attackers receive $6.3 and $6 millions each and the amount of money paid to the French forward could be higher.

Actually, the best paid player at the MLS is Gonzalo Higuaín, who recently left Juventus and signed a contract for which he earns $8.8 million per year. Giroud won’t gain that fortune but yes something near the $7 million per season. Michael Bradley ($6.5 million) and Jozy Altidore ($6.33) are the ones following in the list.
