Atlético Madrid is still in the first position in LaLiga, after earning 47 points on 18 matches played. Real Madrid, second with 40 points, and FC Barcelona, third with 37 points, both with one match played more, complete the podium. A big part of Atlético being in the top nowadays has to do with Luis Suárez.

The Uruguayan striker is the top-scorer of LaLiga, after giving his team 12 goals. Just Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla CF scored as much as him, while Lionel Messi scored one goal less for Barça and Karim Benzema two less for Real Madrid. The numbers of Suárez are the best ones for an attacker in the competition.

Atlético played against Valencia this Sunday a very hard match, and they won 3-1, with a goal scored by the Uruguayan. Ronald Koeman has to be regretting how he backed ex-president Josep María Bartomeu in the unusual decision of axing Suárez in one of the best moments of his career.

With 34 years old, that he celebrated this Sunday, the no. 9 is still one of the best strikers in the world and as well one of the all-time top scorers of Barcelona’s history. The curious decision of sending out of the club is something that all the Catalan side should be suffering nowadays watching what he does in Atlético.
