The realization Raul Jimenez had that changed his career forever
The Wolves star talked about the times he was not scoring, until he found out something that made him became the scorer he is now.
Raul Jimenez has been one of the best strikers of the world in 2020, and at Wolverhampton, before his skull fracture that still have him out of the pitches, has been reaching his full potential. And now he is not competing but training softly, he made a little review of his career in an interview to Goal and EA Sports.
The Mexican international talked about the bad moments he had at Atletico Madrid, where he scored just once in 28 matches, and was sold to Benfica in 2015. There, he said, he came to a realization and after that, he was already a better player, and his goalscoring numbers changed forever since.
That realization that was playing for the team is more important than scoring. Then, Raul found the net 31 times in 120 matches, and in 2018 he moved to Wolverhampton and shone in Premier Leaguewith 34 goals in 85 matches. He also remembered an advice from his mother: she said that did not matter if he failed, another opportunity will always come.
Those nuggets of wisdom gave him the mental strength to get optimistic and never give up. In Wolves he is loved not just for his goals, but also for his work rate and playing for his teammates. The team has been struggling without Raul, and hope him to come back soon.
