Argentine defender Leonardo Balerdi went to Spain to enjoy the days off that Jorge Sampaoli gave Olympique Marseille players for the FIFA date but ended up involved in a scandal: he attended a clandestine party, the police arrived and ended up with a fine for not respecting health protocols in full advance of the coronavirus in Europe and the world.

The incident occurred in Badalona, Catalonia, where the former Boca traveled with his partner at Olympique de Marseille Pol Lirola, who's a native of that city. They were both part of the same illegal event and are subject to the same sanction. According to information from the French newspaper L'Equipe, the neighbors alerted the police due to the tenor of the events and shortly after the authorities were present at the scene. There the place was evicted and fines were applied to 30 attendees, including Balerdi and Lirola.

When the news broke, the fans of Olympique, a very important club in France, expressed themselves against the players on social media. While the team seeks to get into the international cup classification zone and receives Dijon on Sunday, it will be necessary to see if the institution takes action against the players for this act of indiscipline.

This was the police action

As municipal sources have informed the Efe news agency, the local police went on Sunday night to a house in the Mas Ram urbanization, for tourist use, after several neighbors complained about the noise after the hour of the call is left over.

Upon arrival, the tenants refused to open the door to the agents, so they had to wait until they received authorization from the property owner to be able to enter and prevent the clandestine party from continuing. Since last week, the local police have dismantled a total of nine illegal private parties in Badalona.

According to police sources, once inside, the Guàrdia Urbana denounced 33 people for violating the health regulations of COVID-19, including a Marseille player, and the three organizers -among them another footballer from the same team- also for a crime of serious disobedience to agents of the authority.
