Mesut Özil has been left out of Arsenal and that makes him the best dismissed player in the world, by far. He can enjoy of his high wages (20 million euro per year) while doing nothing, but someone competitive like him is anxious for coming back to a pitch, and does not want to wait until June when his contract runs out.

That is why D.C. United appeared as a good option for him. A move to MLS would have meant great incomes for him in marketing, and an ambitious project in a team that wants to compete and make it to the final stages of MLS Cup again. But unfortunately for the Washington based club, there is another option and the former Real Madrid player chose it.

According to DHA, Mesut Özil has a deal with Fenerbahce. The German midfielder, world champion in 2014, would play in Turkey, the country of his parents, and the deal would consist of a contract until 2024 and a salary of five million euros per season with the club from Istanbul.

Özil has not stepped on a pitch since March, right before the COVID-19 break. Then he was ditched of the squad, but he still trains because he knows there is still life for him after Arsenal, and this assist specialist is just getting ready for that. That would be his fifth club, after Schalke 04, Werder Bremen, Real Madrid and the Gunners.
