Pumas UNAM may lose the young Uruguayan Facundo Waller since he is on loan with an option to buy. However, the front-office knows that it will be difficult for them to retain him beyond June 2021, when they will have to pay the buy clause of two million dollars to keep his services.

The 23-year-old midfielder had multiple teams stalking him and if it wasn't for the injury he overcame during the summer it likely that he would have been sold to a European team. It's worth remembering that he already had the possibility to emigrate to Europe but prioritized playing in Pumas before Benfica in Portugal and Sampdoria in Italy.

Waller arrived to Pumas from Plaza Colonia, from his native Uruguay. He had been the captain of the U23 of the Uruguay national team. Head coach Coito said that in the that Uruguayan youth team, which was 4th in the Youth World Cup, the most important player was Waller, not Juventus' Rodrigo Bentancur or Real Madrid's Federico Valverde.

Waller was voted Player of the Match after entering during the second half and provoking the winning goal from Pumas. It only took him 6 minutes on the field to make the only difference of the game. Facundo Waller entered at 68th minute of the second half and at 74th he centered the ball that would end up leading to the only goal of the match, won Pumas 1-0 over local rival Toluca.
