The friend of Messi who Cristiano Ronaldo suffered and would retire for this very strange reason

Cristiano Ronaldo had to suffer some big rivals in his career, Lionel Messi might be the most famous one of all of them. but there is another soccer player who defeated the Portuguese legend when they were face to face and now sees his career under threat.

The player is suffering a very strange injury that practically has no records at all in medical knowledge. He had a very solid spell in Serie A and in Spanish La Liga, but now this injury could force him to quit soccer when he still has many years to play. He suffers an almost total tear of the knee ligament union.

“No other sportsman ever suffered this. It has only eight cases registered in the world, and they were all caused by car crashes”, stated Fenerbahce’s sporting director and former Turkey national team’s Emre Belözoğlu. Now playing for Turkish giants, 32-year-old Diego Perotti has been checked by the club’s medical staff and got a severe issue detected.

“He will have to go on surgery, and his recovery could demand between three and eight months. We'll have to sit with him and have a look at his situation. His contract expires in June 2022”, said former Internazionale’s midfielder Belözoğlu in a public letter issued by the club. Perotti had recently arrived to the club and quickly earned the fans’ warm support after scoring three goals in four matches.           

Face to face with Cristiano

Last July, Juventus were celebrating their latest Scudetto title and played one of the last rounds against Roma, where Perotti was part of the starting eleven. The Argentinian scored a brace to make his team win 3-1. He previously played for Sevilla, Atlético Madrid, Boca Juniors (his father Hugo shared squad with Diego Maradona) and Genoa. Perotti scored a brilliant rabona goal in 2016 playing for Roma in a 4-1 win over Viktoria Plzen.
