Lionel Messi always made clear during his professional career that he always wants to play every game. The Argentinian attacker showed his great behavior and played every single match that he was needed to. But, after many years, head coach Ronald Koeman decided to give him a rest.

It is not the first time that Messi rests under Koeman’s mandate. The coach decided that both the attacker and Frenkie de Jong won’t play the next match from Barcelona, on Week 4 of Champions League against Dynamo Kyiv. The travel to Ukraine won’t be made by Messi and de Jong.

Messi is 33 years old and played 11 games so far this season, scoring six goals and four assists. After so many games, he also was present on the games of Argentinian national team that make him travel too much. During the last FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, he played in Argentina and in Perú.

Barcelona is facing a tremendous moment, after a new defeat against Atlético de Madrid. Now they’ll play against Dynamo Kyiv and afterwards will meet Osasuna for LaLiga. Messi is still defining what he is going to do in his future, as his contract with Barcelona ends on June 2021.
