Lucescu, the oldest coach in the history of the Champions League, said that Messi is an exceptional type of player in confined spaces because of his acceleration, self-confidence, dribbling and many other virtues. As for Cristiano Ronaldo, he said that he needs the help of all his teammates.

Lucescu added that Lionel Messi can do many things by himself, while the Portuguese forward Ronaldo needs to have his teammates providing him assistance to find scoring positions, or at least by 20 meters away from the scoring zone. This points out that Messi would be a more complete player than Cristiano.
