Memphis Depay is one of the most prominent strikers in Europe. Recently signed by Barcelona, the Dutch player has played his football for big clubs such as PSV, Lyon and Manchester United, a team in which he lived a controversial moment that has been revealed by none other than Wayne Rooney, his old teammate at Old Trafford.

The popular ‘Bad Boy’ told an anecdote that does not leave the Moordrecht born very well. In an interview with the 'Daily Mail', the former Manchester United striker and current Derby County coach said that the former Mancuniano club coach, Louis van Gaal, sent Depay to play with the reserve after starring in a mistake in the defeat against the Stoke City.

Confident Wayne Rooney recommended that he attend the United youth game "without all your fancy stuff." However, Depay, as in the celebration of his goals, covered his ears and did the opposite: he appeared at the game with all possible luxuries.

“He showed up for the reserves game in his Rolls Royce, dressed in a leather jacket and a cowboy hat. I just thought, what is the reason? ”Wayne Rooney explained. After seeing Depay's attitude, the Englishman realized that Memphis was not going to triumph at Manchester United. And he was not wrong.

Time has passed and Depay seems to have put aside all the bad memories of his past. At least that was how excited he was on the day he confirmed his arrival at Barcelona. “I really want to play in front of the fans in a packed stadium. Barcelona fans are very special because of the way they live and feel football. He loves soccer. I really want to play in front of such a crowd, ”said the Dutchman.
