The world of sports is characterised by huge salaries, a large fanbase, multiple endorsement deals and millionaire sportsmen. Many times, the sportsmen come from humble beginnings and their life is drastically changed by the glitterati and popularity that comes with being a star sportsman. Over time, some sportsmen have fully embraced the limelight and shone in it e.g. Ronaldinho while others have led a quiet, modest lifestyle e.g. Kaka. We look at the lifestyles of two other sportsmen, Mike Tyson and Ngolo Kante, and how different they are.

Mike Tyson is a former Undisputed  World Heavyweight Champion in boxing, ruling the world between 1987 - 1990. In the peak of his time, Tyson earned up to $375m from fight purses against many notable boxers including Evander Holyfield, Kevin McBride and Frank Bruno. Through fame and stupendous wealth, the American boxer lived a very lavish lifestyle that included buying mansions, fast cars, tigers and prison time.

Tyson famously spent $3.2m within 1 year on fast cars and bikes. He bought cars such as the 1997 Bentley Continental G ($500,000), the Jaguar XJ220 ($470,000) and a Bentley Azure ($1,500,000). The prolific boxer also famously owned 3 Bengali white tigers that he purchased for about $70,000 each and spent about $4,000 monthly on for upkeep. In 2003, Tyson filed for bankruptcy, reportedly in debt to the tune of $23m.

Another sportsman who lives his life very differently from Mike Tyson is Ngolo Kante. Despite being the highest-paid player at Chelsea with £290,000 weekly in salary, the French International lives a very modest lifestyle. The 30-year-old was born to Malian immigrant parents in Paris, had a very humble upbringing but he is now worth about £20m. These riches have not changed Kante as he continues to live like almost every other person.

Despite his huge salary, Kante drives a second-hand Mini Cooper subcompact car, the same car he has driven since he was at Leicester City in 2016. The World Cup winner doesn't have a mansion listed in his name and his accommodation is so modest that many do not know about it. He is also seen as one of the nicest footballers always with a big smile. There has never been a scandal about him and he is thought to have secretly married Jude Littler without anyone knowing when.

These two sportsmen are both millionaires but live very different lifestyles. Over time, there are many examples of players who are as extravagant as Mike Tyson, e.g. Neymar and Paul Pogba. Whereas, others lead modest lives as Kante does like Mesut Ozil and Roberto Firmino. Neither is bad nor good, it only depends on personalities.
