Inter Milan have reportedly rejected a whopping £85m plus player deal for their star striker, Romelu Lukaku. The offer was made by Champions League winners, Chelsea as the club stepped up their interest in the well-built striker.  The player included in the deal is said to be Spanish left-back, Marcos Alonso.

Chelsea is in the market for a new striker, with their search well-documented after stated interests in Tottenham striker, Harry Kane and Borussia Dortmund youngster, Erling Haaland. Just after 12 months after splashing the cash to bring in Timo Werner, the Blues are again looking for a prolific goalscorer after the German flattered to deceive in his first season in London.

It doesn't get better with strikers after Romelu Lukaku with the Belgian netting 24 goals and 11 assists in 36 Serie A matches for Inter Milan last season. Despite stated financial struggles at the Nerazzurri, the Chinese-owned club have repeatedly said they are not interested in selling the striker. Thus, they immediately rejected the bid made by Chelsea out of hand. Inter's CEO, Giuseppe Marotta confirmed that the player is firmly in the plans of new coach Simone Inzaghi ahead of their title-defending season.

Chelsea has seen moves for other strikers come to nought with Harry Kane preferring to move to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City and Erling Haaland presumably waiting till next season before he moved from Germany. The Blues need to bring in bodies in the striking department though with Olivier Giroud having completed his move to AC Milan and Tammy Abraham reportedly courting interest from Arsenal and Crystal Palace.
