Sergio Ramos was let go by Real Madrid at the end of last season after 16 years at the Spanish capital where he won all possible trophies for club and country. His contract expired at the end of the season and it was unclear whether he would continue but Madrid turned him down.

PSG snapped him up for free and gave him a two years contract worth €21m per season. Signing an experienced defender of Sergio Ramos calibre was surely a bargain but considering his injury problem, it was an unwise decision to pay him such money.

He is yet to kick a ball for the Paris club but pockets a whopping €403,000 per week, the fourth highest paid player on the club's roster after Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappé. Much for a player who was signed through injury and at 35 there are long term concerns about his fitness.

Sergio Ramos earned £223,000 per week from his last contract at Madrid. He joined PSG in July after Euros and had he renewed at Madrid, he would have earned around £4m despite not playing, a fee which is not a big deal for Madrid but for a spent player, it's not reasonable.
