Sergio Ramos broke the silence and spoke about his renewal at Real Madrid
The captain of the Spanish club spoke for the first time about his renewal.
In Barcelona they're worried and expectant about what will happen with the renewal of Lionel Messi, their captain and maximum reference. And in Real Madrid he's experiencing a similar situation: Sergio Ramos and the leadership chaired by Florentino Pérez still didn't reach an agreement to extend the link that ends in June and his future's very uncertain.
This Thursday, the defender gave a press conference prior to the world debut of his brand new series that will be seen on Amazon Prime Video and for the first time spoke about the reasons why he hasn't yet renewed the contract with the club that has him as one of the top winners in all of history.
“There's a lot of uncertainty. I wish I could say something, but there is nothing new. He thought only of coming back from injury and finishing the season in the best possible way. There is nothing new about the renovation. I guarantee that when there is, I will be the first to report it. But now I am calm. Now I'm focused on savoring the year”, said the experienced player.
Although he avoided elaborating on the subject, he spoke about the legacy he would like to leave in football: “Legends are forged on a daily basis. There's something that you cannot erase, the curriculum, what you have earned. The only thing that worries me is that it's known that I have been humble, hardworking, I have left my soul. Despite my age, which is now 35, Bernabéu said that there're no young or old players; there're good and bad. I can perform three, four or five more years, if my body supports me and the injuries respect me, I can be at the highest level, I work hard for it and my mentality will always be there. I make mistakes, but I learn from everyone. I've been honest and I've always done my best”.
The dressing room leader Merengue also took a few minutes to defend his friend Cristiano Ronaldo, who's going through hours of turbulence in Italy with constant criticism after the elimination of Juventus against Porto in the Champions League. “It is the flagship of Juventus. You think of Juve and you think of Cris. We, if a bad streak comes, we only talk about the captain and the coach. It's something you have to stay away from, Cris makes a difference. Nothing guarantees success, any team can beat you in the Champions League. Barça fell yesterday, Juventus the day before yesterday ... It can happen to anyone, hopefully not to us", he said.
