Real Madrid is not living any happy moments in 2021 if we talk about Sergio Ramos. The Spanish defender is giving lots of headaches to Zinedine Zidane and the club, not only because of the long soap opera his contract has turned in, but also now that he has picked an injury and needed a surgery.

Ramos had his last appearance on January 14 playing for the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Bilbao. He felt uncomfortable again in his knee and decided to run some medical controls. And because he did so, he found an injury. Doctor Manuel Leyes put his hands on his left knee and did a good job.

Recently, it was reported he would ask for two years of extension in his contract, until June 2023, maintaining his alleged salary of over $18 million. The club offered him to keep that figure but for just one more year or extending his deal to the requested two years including a 10% pay cut.

As for his surgery, Dr. Leyes worked in his internal meniscus in his left knee. Now, he will have to sit out for six to eight weeks. The club made a public announcement stating their medical crew looked after the surgery. Ramos’ bad feelings on his knees seemed to have gone and he could have played this weekend against Huesca. But he didn’t.
