Sergio Agüero received a harsh warning from Pep Guardiola

At the weekend, Sergio Aguero returned to the title in Manchester City after a long absence due to a series of injuries and having contracted coronavirus. However, in the last hours, Pep Guardiola, his coach at the English club, spoke at a press conference and left a harsh (but very realistic) message to the Argentine striker regarding his role within the team.

"Sergio has been out for more than a year, he played cup matches but got injured again. But we always need him in this part of the season, at the right times, because he has a talent and a special quality. At the end of the season there will be games that will be tight and difficult and we will need him. We need guys who can score a goal and the best in those terms is him", said the Catalan coach, referring to the fact that he entered a handful of minutes against Borussia Mönchengladbach for the Champions League and then he started in the Premier League win over West Ham.

Then, in the same vein, Guardiola added: "He is going to help. So it's good that he played 60 minutes, it's good for his legs. In the next matches we could need him for 10, 15 minutes or from the beginning. It's not easy for him, but he has to play better and better and he can help us because of his ability".

Although the warning came: "He knows it from day one, those who play deserve to play. It is not only for Sergio, it is for everyone. I try to make fair decisions. Sergio has been injured for a year. It is a long time". And he closed: "There are other players who also want to play. I know that Sergio is very important to us and what he has done for this club: he scored the most important goal. We want to help him and see him well but, at the same time, Raheem was not a starter. Neither did Phil and Bernardo. So I try to manage it so that everyone can participate".
