Sergino Dest breaks a record at FC Barcelona and keeps making history

FC Barcelona needed defender and found in Ajax a young player with a lot of talent and hunger. Sergino Dest was waiting for an opportunity and the injury of Jordi Alba, the main left-back of the club, opened a spot on the defense. The challenge of filling a position of such a star is hard, but the American took it.

Dest became the first American to start a La Liga match for FC Barcelona, one of the biggest clubs in soccer history. He came from Ajax to find himself playing aside Lionel Messi. Antoine Griezmann and Gerard Pique. This was not his first match, though, he came on as a substitute to the finals 15 minutes of a draw with Sevilla. 

After a wonderful season in the Netherlands that included 38 appearances and 2 goals, FC Barcelona payed 25 million to Ajax to bring him in. The 19-year-old fullback is one of the many American stars playing in Europe and looking for opportunities every day to become a role model to soccer player in the US.

However, FC Barcelona lost against Getafe but that does not mean that Dest started a long path as a future defender at FC Barcelona. There is a long way for him, but the opportunities are there in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and even the Champions League.
