Greater Manchester Police have arrested an unnamed Premier League soccer player who plays for Everton Football club. The soccer star was arrested on allegations of child sexual offences.

“Officers arrested a man on Friday 16 July 2021 on suspicion of child sex offences. He is on police bail pending further inquiries,” Greater Manchester Police said in a statement. The club has now suspended the player until the investigation is over.

"Everton can confirm it has suspended a First-Team player pending a police investigation. The Club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time," the club statement reads.

Everton appointed former city rivals, Liverpool head coach, Rafael Benitez after former manager Carlo Ancelotti left the club to join his former club in Spain, Real Madrid. The Toffees will play two preseason games in Florida, US.
