Chelsea and Germany defender Antonio Rudiger will be out of contract at the end of the season and may leave for free unless something new is agreed with the club. There is a reported standoff over his contract talks as the club is only willing to meet 70% of his wage demands which could force the defender to leave the club.

Rudiger joined Chelsea from Roma in 2017 and has been key to everything the club achieved in that time. He is on a modest wage but as a senior figure in the dressing room the German wants double of what he currently earns. He currently earns £100,000 per week but wants a new deal of £200,000 a week but the club only wants to offer £140,000.

Chelsea are reported to be interested in the services of 22 year old Juventus defender Matthijs De Ligt who has a release clause of £103m and currently earns bout £215,000 per week at Juventus and would certainly require more if Chelsea were to sign him. He is one of the best young defenders in Europe and his agent is Mino Raiola.

It's best for Chelsea to offer Rudiger a new contract than sign De Ligt who definitely would cost more and collect more salary, and due to the nature of his agent Mino Raiola, he could be seeking transfer in few years time, he only joined Juventus two years ago.
