German Champions, Bayern Micunh, have approached FC Barcelona over the possibility of signing Sergi Roberto on an initial loan deal with a potential option-to-buy clause included in the deal. The German club is said to be in the market for a new right-sided defender and has also cast glances at Roberto's Barca teammates; Sergino Dest and Emerson Royal. It is believed that the latter two are not up-for-sale so Bayern has settled on the Spanish defender.

Barcelona is expected to be open to sanctioning a deal for the 29-year old, whose contract expires next summer. They will prefer to receive a fee for him now rather than let him go for free next summer. Bayern Munich is also confident of doing business with the La Liga giants on the back of their good relationship following the loan deal for Phillipe Coutinho in 2019-20.

Bayern Munich is interested in the versatile right-sided defender as they hope to build squad depth and competition with Benjamin Pavard and Bouna Sarr the other right-sided defenders on the roster of the German outfit. It is expected to be a win-win situation as Barcelona are also desperate to free up some space on their wage bill, following their current wage-cap crisis.
