West Ham United will turn their attention to Chelsea's midfielder Ross Barkley and attempt to sign him if they are unable to sign Manchester United Jesse Lingard who played for the club on loan in the second half of last season, according to 90min.

Lingard returned to Manchester United at 5he end of his loan spell in London last season. He had a good spell with West Ham and won the Premier League player of the month of April. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Lingard to stay and fight for his place despite being wanted by the Hammers.

West Ham will now look to sign another English midfielder Ross Barkley from Chelsea. Barkley will likely leave Chelsea after spending last season on loan at Aston Villa but is currently playing preseason under new manager Thomas Tuchel.

Barkley is well known to West Ham manager David Moyes. The two have worked together before at Everton and it was Moyes who gave Barkley his first team opportunities as a teenager. He is likely to cost West Ham around $20.5m.
