Robert Lewandoski: Reasons why he deserves the Ballon D'Or
Debates have been going on, on who deserves the 2021 Ballon D'Or and a lot of people have their own opinions given the fact that the year 2021 was filled with a lot of football activities and we saw great performances.
It's no doubt Robert Lewandoski is an elite striker who deserves a Ballon D'Or to be added to his cache of awards. The award was not held last year due to covid 19 pandemic and many people believed that it would have been a walk in the park for the Polish, having won everything possible last year. He won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA highest goal scorer with 15 goals, best player in Europe and Bundesliga.
He has not relent in the year 2021 showing up as usual. He's the highest goalscorer in all competitions in the 2021 calendar year with a total of 33 goals leading the next player with seven goals. He has scored a brace twice in Champions League this season already, the only person leading him is Sebastian Haller with five goals.
Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema and Jorginho are seen as the closest contender with Messi winning Copa America with Argentina (their first international trophy in 28yrs) after a bad season with Barcelona, Benzema helping France to snatch the UEFA Nations League from Spain and Jorginho winning the champions league with Chelsea and Euro 2020 with Italy.
Considering the fact that the Ballon D'Or is not determined only by team achievement but more by individual achievements and no one comes close to Robert stat in 2021 statistics, he deserves to go home with this year's award.
