Swedish AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic underwent a cleaning operation on his left knee in Rome on Friday, the Milanese team said in a statement. A joint injury that prevented him from being called up by Sweden for the European Championship. Ibrahimovic, who will turn 40 next October, attended the Salvator Mundi International Hospital in the Italian afternoon and was operated on by doctors Volker Musahl and Fabrizio Margheritini, with the presence of Milan's doctor Stefano Mazzoni.

The Swedish striker, who was injured in May during a Serie A match won against Juventus, will begin a rehabilitation process to get ready for the start of the next Serie A on 22 August. It will take about two months for Ibrahimovic to be fully recovered. But he will have to take special care, because a bad recovery would mean a, hopefully not, withdrawal of the Swedish crack. ‘Ibra’ will fight so that an injury does not remove him and he can retire as he likes, on the pitch. Milan finished second in the last Serie A and qualified for the next Champions League, after seven long years of absence.

The Swedish star completed a great campaign in Italy, despite not being able to enjoy the desired continuity due to COVID-19 and injuries. In the 19 games he played in Serie A, he managed to score a total of 15 goals. In April, Zlatan renewed one more season with AC Milan, and will defend the ‘Rossonera’ shirt until the end of the 2021-22 season. Thus, the veteran footballer put the signature to certify his permanence in the institution that again opened the doors to him in Europe, after an experience in the United States with the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer (MLS). Milan highlighted at the time that it has become the "club with which Zlatan has played the most in Italy." Ibrahimovic will be four and a half years old when this new deal is concluded. Previously, the Scandinavian spent a couple of seasons at Juventus and three with Inter Milan.
