Real Madrid are not relenting in their pursuit of French forward Kylian Mbappé and will try again when the next transfer window opens. The club failed in bids for the young player in August after PSG rejected three bids including one in the region of €200m, much to the surprise of the football world.

The 22 year old will be out of contract at the end of the season and will be free to reach an agreement with any club over a potential move next summer. Real Madrid president believes the deal will be made known on January 1.“In January we will have news about Mbappé. We hope that by January 1st, the Kylian Mbappé situation will be fully resolved,” he said in an interview with El Debate.

Perez however claimed he was misunderstood minutes later in another interview with French outlet RMC, who Mbappé opened up to the other day. “My words about Mbappé have been misinterpreted. What I said is that we have to wait until next year to have news - always with respect to PSG with whom we have good relations.”

The collapsed transfer in August brought bad blood between the two clubs. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi accused Real Madrid president Florentino Perez of going behind their backs to talk to the player and making bids he knows they will reject, so as to instigate the player not to sign a new deal and leave for free.
