Things weren’t easy for Chicharito Hernández this season. The attacker played very bad at LA Galaxy, was injured and finally couldn’t make it to the MLS Cup Playoffs. His team ended 10th he fought with ex-head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto and couldn’t play some decisive matches.
After all, Chicharito didn’t make it to Mexico national team either. Gerardo Martino considered that his level this year was not good and left him out of the last FIFA international break of the year. The team faced South-Korea and gained 3-2 in a match in which Raúl Jiménez scored and apart even more Chicharito from his comeback.
As Martino explained himself, the reasons for which Chicharito was not called is his bad level the past campaign. Jiménez has a very good present at Wolverhampton, where he scored four goals after eight Premier League appearances and him, Alan Pulido and Henry Martin are the chosen ones.
With the goal scored against South-Korea, Jiménez has now netted 25 balls with the national team and is about to enter to the top 10 all-time scorers. He played 82 matches and is just three goals away from Andrés Guardado, number 25. Chicharito leads the list with 52 goals, even though he is three years younger than Jiménez.
