Lots of people have expressed points of view around what happened between Lionel Messi and FC Barcelona in the last days. Tennis legend Rafael Nadal, who is also a big fan of soccer, has given his opinion on the events. The 34-year-old has spoken while he undergoes his participation in the ATP Cup.

Despite being a die-hard fan of Real Madrid, Nadal (nephew of Miguel Ángel Nadal, who appeared in 1994, 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cups for Spain), has left his support to Messi water-clear. Although the rivalry between clubs could have lead to a more demagogic speech, he was quite sincere.

In an interview with #Vamos, a new pay-per-view TV channel in Spain, he said Messi is simply paid what the club is willing to pay him, and that he does not understand why there is so much debate around it, considering it’s about one of the best soccer players in history. “If the club considers so, they will have to stick to it”, he assured.

As per his beloved Real Madrid, he understands it’s a logical situation in these hard times the world is going through. He states that is what makes it difficult to build a squad, enter the transfer market and negotiatie contracts’ extension.
