When Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) took over Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2011, they reportedly set a lofty goal for themselves. To procure the services of either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi to play at the Parc des Princes. On the 10th anniversary of their take-over, they achieved this goal with the free signing of Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona.

The Qatari owners have executed a largely successful transfer game plan over the seasons. Successful signings and spells for the likes of Javier Pastore, Edinson Cavani, Marco Verrati and Neymar. No doubt, Lionel Messi is the crowning jewel in their harem of stars.

However, the Nasser Al-Khelaifi led club might look to pull off another incredible feat next summer by signing Cristiano Ronaldo. It is yet to be seen if Ronaldo would want to move to Paris despite the presence of Lionel Messi but some other chips have to fall in place before the move can materialise.

First, if the Portuguese captain does not sign a contract extension at Italian giants Juventus, then he would become a free agent by 2022. This would present an opportunity for PSG to snap up the 5-time Ballon d'Or winner for free.

Ronaldo could play for PSG if Kylian Mbappe completes a move to Real Madrid. This would open up a slot in attack for Ronaldo to fill and form a fearsome trio with Neymar and Messi. Ultimately, Messi's arrival would be the catalyst in the chain reaction that would see Madrid snap up Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo play with his eternal rival, Lionel Messi.
