Lionel Messi was substituted in PSG's last game against Olympique Lyon much to the dissatisfaction of the Argentine who felt he was fine to continue and snubbed his manager, Mauricio Pochettino's handshake, the club has now confirmed Lionel Messi sustained an injury.

 

What happened after Messi was substituted?

Lionel Messi walked off the pitch visibly not pleased about his substitution. He walked pass his manager Mauricio Pochettino on the touchline and snubbed his handshake. He was pictured looking back at him and uttered a few words but no one knows what he said to his fellow Argentine.

 

What Pochettino said about the incident.

Pochettino spoke to the media after the match and downplayed the seriousness of the incident, saying he already spoke to Messi and that the Argentine is fine about it, he went on to further talk about the team. "Everyone knows we have great players on the team. We have a very rich squad of 35 players. Then we have to make choices. With the 11 who must start. And then we have to make decisions during the game.

 

“Sometimes these choices pay off and sometimes they don't. But that's why we're standing in front of the bench thinking about what to do. And those decisions that you have to make, whether things go well or not. Whether you like it or not."

 

What PSG said about Messi's injury

The news of Lionel Messi's injury was first reported by French newspaper L'Equipe and was confirmed by the club later. "Lionel Messi, who took a knock to his left knee against Lyon, underwent an MRI on Tuesday morning which confirmed signs of bruising of the bone. A follow-up examination will be carried out in 48 hours."

 

When will Messi play again?

The update by the club gave no specific timeline for Lionel Messi's return to action, but he will miss tomorrow's game against Metz. PSG's weekend match will be against Montpellier, which Messi is also likely to miss. PSG will want to have him fit for the match against Messi's former manager , Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League at Parc des Princes next week Tuesday.
