Paris Saint-Germain is set to present their latest and biggest signing of all time, Lionel Messi. The Argentine international completed his move to the French capital yesterday, signing on for 2 years with the option to extend for a further year. However, it seems PSG has shelved plans for an elaborate unveiling.

It was earlier reported that PSG had booked the iconic Eiffel Tower for the presentation of the 6-time Ballon d'Or winner to the public. Though, the club has now changed its mind as the unveiling is set to take place at the club's stadium grounds, Parc des Princes. The ex-Barcelona captain will be addressing reporters there. The club likely took this decision due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

This means that the only ever player to have been unveiled at the popular Eiffel Tower remains Neymar. PSG pulled out all the stops during the presentation of Neymar after they paid a world-record £222m to Barcelona for the Brazilian. Neymar will be on hand to welcome his former teammate and friend to the club on Wednesday.

Fans of the club can see the Argentine playmaker in action as soon as his registration is complete this weekend. The Ligue 1 has kicked off already, with PSG claiming a 2-1 victory over Troyes on the opening weekend. Though, the French newspaper, AS, reports that the club might hold back the full debut of Lionel Messi till September 12 against Clermont, when fans will be allowed into stadiums in France.
