Ole Gunnar Solskjær faced a must win match against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday to save his job after hell broke loose on him for the embarrassing 5-0 loss to Liverpool in the previous matchday. The United hierarchy gave him one more shot at redemption.

Solskjaer changed the team's formation and tactics, opted for more experience and had Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani lead the line and a back three of Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Raphaël Varane to help tear Tottenham apart and it worked.

Cristiano Ronaldo put United in the lead in the first half and Edinson Cavani doubled the lead in the second half before Marcus Rashford's injury time goal sealed all three points for United and relieved Solskjaer of the pressure, but put it on Nuno Espirito Santo.

We've seen a similar trend of events before at Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, where he would win a match to ease pressure, go on a good run and then lose it enough not to amount to anything tangible, but with Cristiano Ronaldo, there certainly would be a difference.
