Is not Carlos Vela and it's certainly not Javier "Chicharito" Hernández. It's not Rodolfo Pizzarro, neither. There is another Mexican player that is having a sensational season in the MLS, that has recovered his spot at the Mexican national team, and that is heading into playoffs in his best moment.

We are speaking of Alan Pulido, the Sporting Kansas City's striker who scored again during the weekend during the 4-0 victory of his team against Colorado Rapids. After the triumph, Sporting now stands first in the Western Conference, surpassing Seattle Sounders FC and Portland Timbers, the two teams that looked like were going to stand first at the end of the regular season.

Pulido had lost the last four games of Sporting due to been called up by Gerardo Tata Martino for the Mexican national team. He was recalled after a while to the Mexican squad and even scored a goal. After his return he had to comply a mandatory self quarantine of two weeks. Now, he's back.

There is a stat that shows how good Alan Pulido is doing it this season: among the players with 10 or fewer starts, the former Tigres and Chivas player leads the whole MLS with 10 combined goals (6) and assists (4). He is also one of the only four MLS newcomers with eight or more combined goals and assists. And he's right now the best player of the best team in the West. It's safe to say that Pulido is right now the best Mexican player in the league.
