In recent years, Paris Saint-Germain was characterized by having great players with the sole objective of winning the Champions League for the first time in its history. And after reaching the final last season, where he was vastly outclassed by Bayern Munich, the French cast decided to sign Mauricio Pochettino for glory. Of course, for that to be possible, the Argentine coach asked the authorities to keep the stars of the club and, in addition, reinforce some sectors of the playing field.

In this sense, Pochettino considers it essential that both Neymar and Kylian Mbappé continue in the institution and that is why the leaders have already begun to negotiate with the representatives the respective contract renewals, with the Brazilian being the one that is closest to being finalized while that of the Gaul seems to be complicated due to the fervent interest that Real Madrid showed to have him in their ranks.

Speaking to France Bleu radio, Leonardo (PSG sports director) considered that although the renewal of Neymar is "on track", "a contract is only closed when it is signed and has not yet been done. He in turn called "fanciful" the information linking Neymar's injuries with his lifestyle and his taste for partying.

"He got injured, many others get injured. There is talk of his lifestyle, but people have not been able to leave the house for a year. We all know his life, his history, we know that he is different, that he seeks those things to find his balance, but for us it is irreproachable, because of his commitment to the club”, he assured. The Brazilian, signed for 222 million euros in 2017 to Barcelona, ends his current contract in June 2022, so the club needs to extend it if he does not want to risk his going free at the end of next season.

A situation similar to the one he faces with Mbappé, acquired at the same time for 180 million from Monaco and whose renewal seems less on track. "We are talking. For a long time. It is becoming increasingly clear what we want. At some point a decision will have to be made. I think we are approaching that moment. (…) There is a good position for dialogue”, said Leonardo.
