Brazilian legend Pele is the country's top scorer in international matches having scored 77 international goals for Brazil which culminated in him helping the country win three FIFA World Cups in 1958, 1962 and 1970 before he retired. His goal record has stood ever since then but could be broken soon.

Neymar Jr is the man who is now after the record and is on course to break it. Neymar made his debut for Brazil in 2010 and has been the country's standout player ever since. He has played over 100 games and with his goal against Uruguay being his 70th goal for Brazil, he is just seven goals away from breaking Pele's record.

Neymar opened the scoring in the 10th minute of the encounter with Uruguay. That was not his only action of the game, he found a new partnership with Premier League striker Raphinha, he provided an assist for Raphinha to score the third goal and also gave an assist to Gabriel Barbosa to score the fourth goal.

The win keeps Brazil ahead in the CONMEBOL qualifying series for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, six points above Argentina in second place who also won their match against Peru thanks to a Lautaro Martinez goal. Colombia and Ecuador are the other two nations in direct qualification spots.
