Neither Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo: the most searched footballer in google in 2020

As every year, Google revealed who were the athletes that appeared the most in people's searches in 2020. We surely think that Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Neymar are the ones that appear the most as footballers but it is not like that. There are only two footballers within the 20 most searched on Google and it is neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo.

The FC Barcelona player Lionel Messi does not appear in the top 20 most searched athletes on Google and that attracted the attention of a lot of the public since this year Messi was involved in many problems with FC Barcelona. Most of the athletes featured are basketball players, football players, cars racing drivers or boxers.

Without Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo in the ranking, the first footballer to appear is Luis Suarez. The current Atletico Madrid striker earned being the most searched footballer as he was involved in the fight with Bartomeu that ended in his departure from FC Barcelona. That fight with FC Barcelona caught the attention of many people and that is why he managed to be the soccer player with the most searches in Google of the year.

The other soccer player that appears within the first 20 of the Google ranking is Thiago Silva. While he is not such a media player, his departure from PSG made him a highly searched player on Google by people. It is surprising to see that players like Thiago Silva have a greater impact on Google than players like Lionel Messi, Neymar or Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the first place there is the NASCAR racer Ryan Newman as after suffering an incredible accident he returned to the tracks in a great way. The second place is conformed by Michael Jordan and what helped people to search for him a lot on Google was the appearance of the series "The last Dance". Finally the podium is completed by Tyson Fury after having been bragging that he wanted to fight against Myke Tyson.
