Liverpool and Egypt winger Mohamed Salah's current Liverpool contract will run out in the summer of 2023 and he has not penned a new contract with the club hoping to sign their best player to a longer contract to avoid losing him to rival European clubs who are said to be monitoring the situation.

Though no official communication from either Liverpool or the player's representatives as to why the contract is stalling, the confirmed details suggest the contract issue will be resolved by January but the details of the negotiations is unknown. Manager Jürgen Klopp has remained quiet on divulging the details.

The Egyptian is currently on a £200,000 per week salary at Anfield and is one of the highest paid players at the club currently, but it is believed he wants more and deserves more than what he currently earns compared to other top earners in the league. The player is believed to want a salary in the region of £500,000 per week which would make him the league's highest paid player in the Premier League ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo but the club is reluctant.

Salah has started the new season on a very high note. He has contributed nine goals and assists in the league, six goals and three assists in seven games and is joint top scorer with Jamie Vardy. He also has three goals in two games in the UEFA Champions League.
