Lionel Messi is one of the richest and best-paid footballers in history. While on the books at Barcelona, the Argentine was reportedly earning up to €1,000,000 weekly from his previous contract. Now with PSG, the 6-time Ballon d'Or winner is on a salary of about €35m annually.

These huge amounts of money mean that the Argentine superstar might never have to work in his life anymore and still maintain his wealth. One of the outstanding business ventures of Lionel Messi is a Messi-themed football park in China, named 'Messiland'. The park was built through a partnership between The Phoenix Group and Leo Messi Management. The park is situated in the Nanjing Province of China and was opened in 2020. According to Mediapro, the 'Messiland' is the largest football-themed park in the world.

Another lucrative business that the PSG star has invested in is his luxury clothing and wristwatches brand. In 2019, Lionel Messi partnered with Gini Hilfiger to launch a clothing line. 'The Messi Store' was opened in Barcelona and it features numerous sports clothing items.

Also, Lionel Messi again teamed up with wristwatch maker, Jacob & Co. to release his personalised line of expensive, luxury wristwatches.  Lovers of the Lionel Messi wristwatches can buy the Epic X Chrono Rose Gold watch for $46,000 while the Epic X Chrono Diamond watches for $150,000. All these smart business investments have made Lionel Messi one of the richest footballers with a net worth of over $400m.
