Messi: the fortune that Barcelona will pay him and for which they accuse him of being a traitor

A scandal exploded regarding Lionel Messi and his contract with FC Barcelona. The Spanish newspaper El Mundo leaked that the Argentinian legend gained more than $555 million during the last four years and accused him for being responsible for the club's bad financial situation.

According to the contract published, the historical no. 10 will be paid a clause in July of $40 million more, that appears in his contract due to the loyalty for the club during all these years. The clause will be paid on the middle of the month, even though Messi decides to stay or to leave afterwards.

The fact of him earning that fortune and then leaving could be seen as an act of treason. Some fans have already started speculating on social media with that situation. At his 33 years old the six-times winner Ballon D’Or has made the last renewal of his contract on November 2017 and is now waiting to decide his future.

After more than 20 years at the club, Lionel Messi considers that there is not an interesting project that could be useful for him in the last years of his professional career. That is the reason why he is thinking on making a move, being Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and some MLS sides the ones with more chances to sign him.
